I have over 15 years experience of working within the events and venue hire industry, specifically focussed on arts and heritage organisations or local authorities and have lived in London for the last twelve years.
I grew up in the beautiful seaside resort of Bournemouth and always knew that I wanted to work with creative people in creative organisations whether they were actors, artists, dancers, curators, directors, singers or arts managers. I knew that these types of people and these types of organisations inspired me much more than big salaries or bonuses. I also knew though that my skills and interests sat not in delivering creative programmes but in approaching these organisations as a commercial expert, advising on and managing their commercial streams so as to generate as much additional income as possible.
That sentiment remains today: I take great pride in being able to generate this income during a time when funding from many sectors is decreasing and placing organisations or heritage buildings in jeopardy.
When not working I can often be found wondering around a museum or gallery, decking out my flat with mid-century-modern pieces of furniture, or indulging my interest in post-war, socialist realist art!
